The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, know suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen. ~Elizabeth Kubler Ros

Thank you for your encouraging words! I understand how difficult it is to live with this condition (I’ve been diagnosed with fibroymyalgia and CFS) but thinking positively really does help you deal with the symptoms even though it’s hard to do sometimes. I can relate to all the negative comments I read on other sites regarding chronic illness and I do understand why people post those comments and don’t hold any judgement against them for doing so, but it’s refreshing and uplifting to read about someone who reaches for the positive things in life when it’s so easy to dwell on the negatives.

Absolutely Amy, I agree it’s wonderful to read something uplifting. I was recently diagnosed on April 16th and am determined not to be dragged down. This is going to be the start of a new journey in my life. Fibrohaven is a home away from home!

Unbelievably positive thought for today and everyday, but there is a fine line between being compassionate and being an enabler! While we always need someone to understand we also need someone to push just a little bit so no day is wasted wallowing in our own misery.

I have been plagued by fibromyalgia for too long. I had a nerve stim implanted in 2010 which helps to some degree.
When the pain in my legs are almost unbaearable and yet I have to leave the house, I make it a point to dress up with my “brightest and happiest” outfit. Of course, I also include more makeup than usual. Be assured that my outfit is approproate for the occasion, but yet, when I look in the mirror before I leave the house, I know I’ll get thru’ the day, because I’m all dressed up.. True, I force myself to go, but I do go!
I’m past eight-one, and plan to be around for at least 20 years, hoping to beat my Mom who passed away 4 days before 100. She used the computer, and loved it, until a few days before her death.
Yup, there are days when I would love to stay in bed ( I hurt more), but I talk to myself out loud (no, I don’t get an answer) and find something to do or else I take a short walk. No, I will not give in to the pain. I am my own boss, so up and around I go.
