Here on the west coast it seems that winter has just begun with this week's rain and cold weather, yet Spring is just a couple of weeks away. For most of human existence we humans have lived by the seasons, and changed our habits and rituals to be in alignment with the natural rhythm of each season. It is only in the last 100 years or so that we have pushed against nature in the name of progress. Makes me wonder how much our disconnecting to the natural rhythm of nature is related to the rise in chronic illness, chronic stress, chronic pain? Just something to ponder. Body Talk: The Wisdom of the Body
There's this spot on my upper back that my husband and I lovingly refer to as my baseball. Sort of ironic because I am actually a huge fan of baseball. But this spot on my back, is probably my least favorite part of my body. We call it the baseball because for years when it would get inflamed, it became a huge knot - about the size of a baseball. Sometimes You Just Have to Ask
What are your experiences with asking for help? I think we can all agree it is not an easy thing to do, especially in dealing with chronic illness when you are not even sure at times what it is you really need. Asking for help is something I have never been good at, and accepting unsolicited help is even harder for me. I am in Love with Love and Love is in love with me. My body is in Love with the soul and the soul is in Love with my body. I opened my arms to Love and Love embraced me like a lover. ~Rumi Is there a better day for a new Things I Love post than Valentine's Day? When you hear the word love, you likely think first of romantic love - cupid, roses, sunsets, and the like. And yes, romantic love is a vital part of our existence, but love comes in so many varieties and packages. Like the love we have for our family. The love for our parents who shelter and challenge us. The love for our … [Read more...]
Living With Intent
Today is Monday, January 3, 2011. It is the day millions of people around the world realize they have already failed at the resolutions they set for the new year. But failed is such a hard word when you consider the ridged and unrealistic expectations resolutions place upon us. Resolutions force us to look at what we don't like about ourselves, rather than honoring and nurturing the potential of what we can be. That is why, instead of living with resolve, I am choosing to live with intent. Intent: purpose: an anticipated outcome that is intended or that guides your planned … [Read more...]
